The Bhagavad Gita, the holy book of Hinduism, was originated by Lord Krishna in the plains of Kurukshetra on the day of Magshar Shukla Agiyaras. In the year 2020, Magshar Shukla Agiyaras is 25th December i.e. today. This day of origin of Gita is celebrated as Gita Jyanti. On the day of Gita Jayanti, Shrimad Bhagwad Gita is recited and Lord Krishna and Gita are worshiped all over the country.
It may be mentioned that there are a total of 18 chapters in the Shrimad Bhagvad Geeta, in which 6 chapters are based on Karma Yoga, 6 chapters on Gyan Yoga and the last 6 chapters on Bhakti Yoga It was from the chapters of this Gita that Lord Krishna preached to Arjuna.
There is also Mokshada Ekadashi that gives Moksha today. On this day in Kurukshetra Lord Krishna gave Gita knowledge. Hence Agiyaras is called Gita Jayanti. The Gita knowledge was manifested from the mouth of Lord Krishna. Celebrating the anniversary of each incarnation is also the only scripture whose anniversary is celebrated.
The Gita has a total of 18 chapters and 700 verses. The verses of the Gita are composed in the Anushtup verse. Maharshi Vedavyas has named the Gita. Today is Mokshada Ekadashi
Fasting on Mokshada Ekadashi of Magshar Sud Agiyaras yields the fruit of Vajpayee Yajna. If Nakordo is fasted on the day of Ekadashi, its fruit is offered to a person who has gone to hell, then he is saved. The special Mahatmya of Ekadashi is described in Brahmandpuran.
